A Painting 20 Years in the Making
General Butler Lake
General Butler Lake
My youngest daughter ran cross country when in high school. She
graduated in 2000. They practiced and had meets at General Butler State
Park in Carrollton, KY. One day at a practice, I was there in the park
and wandered down by the lake. It was about 5 p.m. and the fall colors
were absolutely glowing. I quickly snapped a pic of it and when I had
it developed, (yes, those were the days of actual film in a camera), I
was blown away by it. I matted and framed it and had it hanging in my
home for years and years.
I always expected to paint it, and I finally decided now is the time. I
pulled out the photo and gave it a go. I always loved the photo and now
I'm in love all over again with this painting of it.
