My youngest daughter ran cross country when in high school. She graduated in 2000. They practiced and had meets at General Butler State Park in Carrollton, KY. One day at a practice, I was there in the park and wandered down by the lake. It was about 5 p.m. and the fall colors were absolutely glowing. I quickly snapped a pic of it and when I had it developed, (yes, those were the days of actual film in a camera), I was blown away by it. I matted and framed it and had it hanging in my home for years and years.
I always expected to paint it, and I finally decided now is the time. I pulled out the photo and gave it a go. I always loved the photo and now I'm in love all over again with this painting of it.
