But that's OK, (I guess) cause I'm sending you lots of warmth and love with my newest work, Sunflower Dreams.
Sunflower Dreams is exactly that. I dreamed this painting. That is such a cool thing when it happens. I can actually see the painting before I paint it and it usually just flows off my brush, maybe because I've already done it once. In my head.
Creating art is sometimes like pulling teeth. You have an idea or are painting plein air so you're looking right at the place or the thing. Even then it can be difficult to translate that onto paper or a canvas. But when I dream a painting, my mind has already created it and it's usually a much smoother process.
This painting is rather abstracty. I just made up that word. The background is made up of black and shades of blue. I scraped off paint and put it back on. I used a palette knife, a scraper, and brushes banging together to create a very loose but interesting background.
Next I added the leaves and then finally the sunflowers. Then I did a little more abstract work on it to sort of sink the flowers down a little into the painting. I had to put down plastic on my floor and my wall because paint was really flying on this one. But, it was so much fun it was worth any extra effort.
Somewhere in there I added the strip of black and white checks, because that's how I dreamed it so I couldn't leave them out.
I hope you enjoy this one and I'd appreciate letting me know what you think, how it makes you feel and what you like about it.
Have a great week,
Sharon
