Brilliant Sky Wave

Sunset Waves is part of a series I'm doing in April 2021 on crashing waves.  I like to work in series as I perfect various aspects of my art.  There will be many variations and sizes on this theme.  

This painting started out as a demonstration to my private Facebook group for the Beginner's Painting Club, a monthly membership site I have.  I taught the clouds in step by step detail live to my class.  Then I did a lot of the painting in time-lapse format on Instagram.  Then I put together a blog post about that experience and put it on my YouTube channel.  I'm including that video here so you can see how this painting went together.  

The post is about how all paintings go through ugly phases.  Many people think art should be beautiful from start to finish and it just isn't.  You start with an idea in mind and sometimes the painting goes there and sometimes it doesn't, but even with a painting that just flows off your brush, there are still those segments of it that it's ugly.
