Butler Lake

Butler Lake is a painting I did Plein air, meaning I painted it on location at General Butler State Park, Carrollton, KY.  I was standing on the footbridge behind the mini golf course and painting this beautiful fall scene.  I don't do a lot of plain air work because of a serious lung condition I have, but that day was magical. The next day or so it was rainy and windy and all those beautiful leaves and color were gone.  

In the trees is a campground and there's always lots of campers and people staying in the cottages, especially in the fall.  They have a great Halloween celebration for the whole month of October with lots of activities.  It's a beautiful place and great for walking and enjoying the scenery.

This painting is 8" x 10" and is in a deep gold wooden frame that is approximately 3" wide and an inch or so deep.  It has a paper backing and is wired to hang.  This would be a great piece for anyone living in Carroll County, KY or who camps there on any sort of regular basis.
